Black friday tv deals 2015 - Fusion 4K High Speed

Let me start out by telling you I shoot wedding videos and special events for a living. About 6 months ago we starting shooting in 4k, primarily using the HC-X1000 and the GH4.

I have a studio that shows off my portfolio of work (which now includes my 4k video). I replaced all the Televisions in the studio with 2 high end 4k televisions (Sony XBR65X930C’s). I used a dedicated pc running the GTX750 video card (which is capable of 4k at 60Hz). I used the same 2 HDMI cables that I had previously had hooked up to 1080P televisions (this turned out to be a mistake).

When I ran 4k content it had snow on the picture. When I switched back to 1080P the picture was fine. The 4k footage I wanted to show off was shot at 60 fps with high dynamic range. I’m not sure what the max bandwidth I was pushing, but do I know the raw files are very large. The picture did not contain snow on every seen, but it was noticeable when showing high motion scenes like water or clouds going by in the sky. If the content was slow or still, like a scene in the park, it would not contain the snowy pixels. So of course I thought the TV was bad, so I put it back in the box, taped it up and was ready to return it. I was glad I bought 2 at that point so I quickly set up the second TV. I was shocked when I had the same exact problem on the same scenes on the 2nd TV.

I figured one HDMI cable is as good as another, right? Wrong. I guess digital is all or nothing is a myth because I bought 3 new HDMI cables (Let’s just say they all claimed they could do 4k), figuring it was either the cables or the video card. 1 out of the 3 played the 4k content perfectly. The Fusion cable played the video flawlessly. I hooked up the second TV and it worked on that one as well. Now I just need to order the longer cable (25ft) to make the run needed for the second TV.
