Weather in Vietnam is warm and humid, but as the country is long and narrow, the weather in its regions may significantly differ. Generally, Vietnam's climate can be divided into three different zones – North Vietnam, Central Vietnam and South Vietnam. So while south of the country will enjoy its hot tropical climate all year long, in mountains in the north it may even be freezing.
North Viet nam
In North Vietnam there are two distinctive seasons: winter and summer, that are really different from each other. The winter is usually cool and dry. It lasts from November to April with an average temperatures 18-23°C. Summer months, from May to October, is a season of heavy rainfalls. The average temperature is about 30°C.
Central Vietnam
Central Vietnam is an in-between climatic area with the features of both, temperate North and tropical South. From mid-January to late August the weather is pretty hot and dry with temperatures above 30°C. During the winter months, especially October and November, there are regular rainfalls and a slight decrease in temperature.
South Vietnam - vietnam places to visit
As this region is located in the tropical zone, there’s no winter and summer here, but the year is still divided in two seasons: wet and dry. The dry season starts in November and lasts till April, while the wet season is from May to early November with the average temperature between 30-35°C.
